Ronaldo's penalty splits the internet on World Cup Day 5, and Embolo won't celebrate

After the second and third days of the FIFA World Cup 2022 saw unexpected results, Day 5 did not witness any major upsets.
Saudi Arabia and Japan respectively astounded Argentina and Germany.
The day's first encounter saw Switzerland against Cameroon, and later that evening Uruguay took on South Korea.
The final game of the day was Portugal against Ghana.
Day 5 didn't see any major upsets, but the Uruguay vs. South Korea match ignited a meme frenzy because there weren't many shots that were on goal.

Breel Embolo's goal in the second half decided the FIFA World Cup match between Switzerland and Cameroon. Embolo scored in the 48th minute on a right-footed drive from inside the area after Xherdan Shaqiri made a brief pass. When the striker scored the winning goal against his native nation, there was no joyous celebration.

Uruguay played South Korea in the second game of the day.


The paucity of shots on target from either team during the game will be most recalled. Diego Godin of Uruguay nearly scored in the first half as his header hit the frame. South Korea also had numerous chances to score but came up empty-handed.

In the day's final game, Ronaldo's Portugal took on Ghana. The Cristiano Ronaldo-led side triumphed in the match by an exciting 3-2 score. In the 65th minute, Ronaldo scored a penalty to put his name on the scoreboard. The Portuguese forward made history by being the first person to score in five different tournaments. In the 73rd minute, Ghana's Andre Ayew tied the game. Bruno Fernandes assisted  n goals by Joao Felix and Rafael Leao in the 78th and 80th minutes to give Portugal a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes of added time remaining.

When Cristiano Ronaldo departed the field in the 88th minute, Ghana had already scored their second goal of the game. In the 77th minute of the game, Osman Bukari replaced Mohammed Kudus and helped Ghana close the gap. Inaki Williams came close to scoring the equaliser during the tight conclusion, but Portugal was able to secure the victory.
